Case study CS-01 · Field robotics / site mapping

Two-system robotic mowing, Camp Mountain QLD

A sloping acreage of house lawns and a steep paddock needed full automatic coverage. The 12,199 m² mapped work area was beyond any single mower suited to the slopes, so two satellite-guided Husqvarna Automowers were allocated across six zones and installed in one day without boundary wire. Christine took part in the assessment mapping and recommendation, mapped the AWD mower's zones on installation day, and ran the aftercare that followed.

1.0 — Context & problem

The whole property, not just the lawns

Sloping acreage: manicured lawns beside the house and pool, plus a large paddock that falls away steeply toward the bush. Previously mowed by a contractor. The owners wanted the whole property covered automatically.

  1. 01Total work area of 12,199 m² across six mapped zones, from house lawns to paddock.
  2. 02Sections with very steep slopes, the client's biggest concern.
  3. 03The all-wheel-drive model suited to the slopes is rated to 3,500 m² working capacity, so it cannot cover the property alone. A two-system setup was required.

Working capacities are manufacturer ratings with a 30% buffer, as stated in the drawing set. The 580 EPOS's 10,072 m² is 1,672 m² above the 560 EPOS working capacity; the 560 is shown as a comparison point only and was not recommended for this site.

4.0 — Verified outputs & results

Installed, then supported

  • Two EPOS mowers installed in one day on separate work areas, with no boundary wire. The AWD mower runs the steepest banks; the 580 EPOS covers the larger, gentler ground.
  • Per the published installation case study (E-02), the whole property is mowed automatically and the owners manage it from their phone.
  • A 435X charge-station fault was triaged by Christine, diagnosed by the lead technician and repaired under warranty on 19 August 2026. The 435X has worked normally since.

“The mowers are going fantastically ... it's better than mowing.”
